Hogan’s Real Golf Secret

March 31st, 2009 filed under Online Sports Resources

Ben Hogan’s secret was his extraordinary ability to focus. This was not a gift from heaven. No, Hogan spent long hours perfecting his focus technique.

Robert DeLeon, my mentor and a golf biomechanics instructor, grew up in Austin Texas. Besides taking lessons from Harvey Penick, he had the opportunity as a kid to sit and watch Hogan practice. Hogan would take hours to hit just forty balls. He would hit a ball and spend a few minutes to rewind the shot in his mind and go over every aspect of it. Before he hit the next ball he knew everything he did right and wrong with that shot and was ready to hit the next one even better.

Hogan fine tuned every swing until it was perfect. He didn’t want any bad swings to creep into his system and create any bad habits. His swing is not one to emulate unless you are built like him, but his methods will make any golfer strike the ball well.

If you read very carefully, you can see in Hogan’s books just what he did. The problem is that you must understand the swing and his process before you can properly interpret what he wrote. It was only after discovering and perfecting Hogan’s system that I re-read his books for probably the tenth time, and realized that he did share his secret, but that he was looking at it from a stand point of someone who already understood.

Hogan’s swing secret was not just the balance and setup…it’s about how he achieved and controlled balance during his swing and how you can get similar results using his control methods.

The key phrase is how he controlled his swing movement. Anyone can make a great swing once in a while, but Hogan was known for doing it almost every time.

Hogan said that the game is played keeping the weight on the inside halves of the feet, but that is as far as he went. It’s too bad because this statement is the key and the starting point for understanding Hogan’s secret of control. His secret? The swing is controlled from the feet.

I have taken pros and blindfolded them, leaving them to monitor their swing completely by feel and been able to get them to not only to strike the ball purely, but to shape their shots accurately using only feedback from their feet.

Most of the pros on tour use his methods, except they use them subconsciously. Hogan took the process to the conscious level so he could monitor and correct his swing in motion.

Today’s pros have been convinced that they shouldn’t think about anything during the swing, but it has been proven that the mind will not think about nothing. Like it or not, your mind works all of the time, as shown in your dreams.

The trick with the golf swing is to focus in such a way so that those thoughts are completely visual, with feedback based on feel, thereby never bothering the brain with any distracting conscious thoughts.

3 Things You Must Check Before Buying Used Titlist Golf Clubs To Avoid Regrets

March 31st, 2009 filed under Online Sports Resources

Used Titlist golf clubs are great golf clubs even if its used. They usually retain their quality longer. I also suggest that you get a used golf club set if you’re a beginner so if you decide that this game is not for you. You wont burn as much cash as you if you bought new golf clubs.

Just to avoid regrets on buying a used titlist golf club. I compiled a simple checklist for you.

I. Check and compare different shops.

That’s right. If you have the time, I suggest that you shop around for used titlist golf clubs from different shops, suppliers or even from friends or neighbors. You’ll be surprised on how much cash you’ll be preserving in the end.

II. Inspect the Grip, Shaft and the Clubhead.

These are the 3 things that greatly affect the performance of not only used titlist golf clubs, but also most of the golf clubs. Check the grip if it has cracks or severely worn out and avoid such things if possible. Although re-griping used titlist golf clubs are not expensive but if you can find that not that damaged, then well and good, more cash saved.

But Inspect the clubhead meticulously! This has a huge impact on a golf club’s performance. Make sure that it has no dents, cracks or hints of extreme wear and tear. Lastly check the grooves of the clubheads, make sure it still there and not faded.

III. If you can try to ask for a test period.

Although this is highly unlikely that they’ll offer to test their used titlist golf clubs. But it’s worth the effort. You will be minimizing you’re risk, saves you time and money.

There you have it. These are the most important things to check in a used titlist golf clubs. Going through you’re checklist ensure you that you’ll get a good deal. One more thing. The Most Underrated Golfer in History… Buffalo Bill! Huh??

March 29th, 2009 filed under Online Sports Resources

Buffalo Bill was introduced to golf by his father at age 5 and started his PGA Tour career in 1955 at the age of 24, which could be considered a late start compared to today’s standards. Even with this late start he ended up with 51 wins on the PGA Tour, 6th on the all time win list. Included in those 51 victories are two U.S Opens and one Masters. He also has won nine Senior Tour Championships including two Senior Majors, one of them the USGA Senior Open in 1983.

Buffalo Bill was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978 and the PGA Hall of fame in 1982. He played on eight Ryder Cup teams and captained the 1979 Ryder Cup. He won five Vardon Trophies, awarded to the player with the lowest scoring average for the year, and was a two-time Player of The Year winner. In 1968 he was the first player to surpass $200,000 in single-season earnings and won his second money title. He was also the second player in history to reach the $1 million career earnings mark, Arnold Palmer being the first.

These are the highlights on Buffalo Bill’s golfing career. Only five people in the history of game have accomplished more on the PGA Tour. Sam Snead leads the all time victory list with 81 wins, followed by Jack Nicklaus with 73 and Ben Hogan with 64, “The King”, Arnold Palmer, has 62 and Byron Nelson has 52, to round out the top five. All five of these great champions, as well as lesser-accomplished pros, are talked about all the time, but not Buffalo Bill. For some reason his name only pops up occasionally. One would think that with credentials like these, his name would be a household word at least through-out the golfing world. Yet, for some reason that is not the case.

Heck his name hasn’t even popped up here yet! Who is Buffalo Bill?

Well for those of you that haven’t figured it out yet, it is none other then San Diego’s native son, Billy Casper.

Why Buffalo Bill?

When Billy Casper began a strict diet of buffalo meat, he went on a winning streak - 51 PGA Tour victories in all - that assured him legendary golf status. This culinary peculiarity earned Casper the moniker “Buffalo Bill.” The rest, including the above-mentioned Masters championship and two U.S. Open titles, is history.

Exercise For A Golfer…Don’t Fear it

March 29th, 2009 filed under Online Sports Resources

Exercise for a golfer is widely used. Despite the success many professionals have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy in their game, mainly because of golf-specific exercises, many amateur golfers still shun any golf specific exercises.

Even when it is rather obvious that leading names in the game like the legendary Tiger Woods heavily rely on staying in good shape for the game by having personal trainers and by being involved in golf specific exercises.

Bt far the main reason why most still fear and avoid exercise for golfers is the belief that they will develop muscles. Actually lifting weights are a very effective way of toning the golf-specific muscles for the game, by strengthening them. Strength training using weights will never increase the size of your muscles.

Nobody would loathe building big muscles more than most lady golfers. Yet many of them have dramatically improved their games by increasing their strength through golf-specific weight training.

Actually you need to be in the gym several hours a day lifting very heavy weights to develop a weight-lifters’ muscles. The weight-lifting exercise regime for golf involves lifting lighter weights many more times over a very short period of time compared to a weightlifter looking for muscles with heavier weights lifted fewer times at a time but for longer hours daily.

The fact that many lady golfers have been able to dramatically improve their game by getting involved in exercises for a golfers, but have not build heavy stiff muscles, should be encouragement enough for many amateurs to seriously consider exercise for a golfer programs.

Apart from weights, most of the exercises for a golfer involve stretch exercises designed to improve a golf swing. Some of these stretch exercises for a golfer can easily be done form the comfort of an office or home when you have a moment to spare.

The Story of the Inaugural Catered Chalet Breaks to Chamonix Haute Savoie France

March 27th, 2009 filed under Best Recreation Resources, Travel Center

It was 1770 when the 1st guest house was opened up in Chamonix village. Prior to this Chamonix Mont Blanc embodied a wild and tough agricultural town where folks hunted animals and grew their own wheat.

Barns back then were used to breed cows during the summer months. Their milk was preserved by transforming it into cheeses and stored in the valley for eating during the bleak winters. In the winter the barns were bolted, and any valuables were secured in a liitle hut.

Who invented the chalet holiday is obscured by time, it was probably various keen people who realized a set up that worked. For entrepreneur Erna Low it all started when she was a nostalgic postgraduate and could not visit her parents back home in Austria as much as she would like to. Therefore in 1930 she took a risk and put a small ad in the broadsheets to ask guests on a skiing vacation. For only £15 they traveled to and from the skiing resort, were provided with dinner and accommodation in the sole chalet, and had ski hire and instruction. Holidays were arduous , there weren’t any ski lifts, no safety bindings, only heavy leather shoes, however it was such a hit that Erna Low continued to take groups on breaks, seeing to it that she employed great hotels and ski guides.

These ski vacations in the beginning were a far cry to the luxury we can experience nowadays. Back then hot water was in short supply, the bathrooms would be shared out by all of the punters, and there was no a chef; the punters had to help out. It was a real gamble who may be in the chalet for a holiday, you could be surprised to meet new acquaintances, or grimace at the thought of having to spend any more time with them.

Chalets France were later on advertised on their additional bonuses. A cook, who would serve you continental breakfast and dinner and cooked you a cake, and {more hot water for bathing.

Euro Lottery plus Something You Might Not Know. How it Works, Who it Applies to plus How You Can You Play this Tremendous European Lotto

March 24th, 2009 filed under Odds + Chances, Wheel Of Luck, World Of Entertainment

The Euromillions lottery was originally set-up by the national lotteries of the UK, Spain and France and was disclosed on February-04. The initial draw was on Feb 13th-04 in Paris. The United Kingdom, France and Spain were the only nations partaking in the beginning but lotteries from Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium also got involved on Oct 04.

The Euro millions lottery or the Euro Lottery, as it’s normally acknowledged, gathers the ticket receipts of the 9 partaking European countries awarding a whopping Euro Millions jack-pot. With the number of countries joining the Euro on the increase, that will without a doubt lead to new states participating in the EuroMillions lotto. An increase in the number of individuals partaking in the Euro Lotto will lead to a continuing growth of the already gigantic Euro Lotto “jackpots”.

Q. How To Play The EuroMillions Lottery?

Each and every participant must choose five primary numbers from 1 to 50 plus 2 Lucky-star numbers from 1 to 9. During the draw, 5 primary and 2 “lucky star” numbers are then selected at random from two lotto draw machines containing numbered balls.

Euro Lottery Awards

The prospects of scooping up the Euro Millions jack-pot is a distant 1 : seventy six million but the probability of acquiring a money prize is a somewhat decent 1 in twenty four. When the jack-pot is not won on a given week, it is carried forward to the following week that will result in an ever increasing “jackpot” prize. New regulations brought in on the 2007-02-07 specify the number of consecutive roll-overs to 11, with the jack-pot rolled down to smaller prize levels in the 11th lotto draw if the prize is not collected.

The new regulations likewise initiated Euro Lottery Super Draw which come about twice each year plus they offer jackpots in the region of 100 million pounds. The difference with Super-Draws is that the jackpot must be won during the week of the draw; as a result, when there is no ticket corresponding, all the numbers drawn and top prize will then be allotted to the lottery ticket holder(s) in the next winning prize level.

Reverse Osmosis and Deionized Water Filtration

March 18th, 2009 filed under Tech

Let’s face it if you are in a business needing de-ionized water or reverse osmosis water you are always concerned about the quality of your water. I know as a mobile detailing business that when we have ultra clean water in our tanks we are a happy camper. We know it will make your job so much easier. We also like the idea and concept of spot free water. Have you ever considered how Reverse Osmosis really works? Let me describe the process from my industries perspective.

In R.O. water pressure forces water through a fine membrane that filters out between 85-95% of the dissolved solids in the water. Water lacking these solids won’t water spot a car. It’s important to have soft water filter inline the R.O. system prior to R.O. Some systems have a water softener/carbon filter/R.O. system in that order. This saves life on the R.O. membranes. R.O. units are measured in gallons per day (GPD) because there flow is relatively slow. Usually they run twenty-four hours a day and the water is put into a storage tank to be used later. Small R.O. units that cost between $2,500 and $5,000 put out 4 gpm. To go to 10 gpm, the speed at which you’d want to fill your tank, the cost of those units starts at $25,000.

Car washes need units that make between 500 to 1000 gallons a day for the rinse cyles. A small unit will work because 4 GPM (gallons per minute) X 60 minutes is 240 gallons. So, in four hours at night when the car wash isn’t being used, they will have one thousand plus gallons. The only problem for them is that a thousand gallon tank is five feet wide and eight feet tall.

An R.O. machine works best when it’s running clean water through it. Otherwise, the membranes let nature take over. Then you have not reverse osmosis but osmosis. It’s better to have a small machine running twenty-four hours a day than a big machine running two hours and then shutting off. R.O. membranes should have a constant positive flow through them. Some industry leaders believe twelve to thirteen hours is the maximum you should run an R.O. unit a day. They think the machine will last longer.

Silica, iron, aluminum and bacteria cause irreversible damage to membranes and that’s why pre-filters are a must to keep membranes from fouling. Fouling results when particles suspended in the feed water are deposited within the R.O. unit. Fouling reduces permeate flow rate. Bacteria fouling usually doesn’t cause the permeate conductivity to increase until your system is extremely plugged. Other particles may cause permeate conductivity to increase.

Most biological and particulate silica foulants can be removed with the proper chemicals. Bio-fouling is a problem. Pre-treatment may have little impact on R.O. unit fouling. Simply killing the bacteria won’t work because the same number of fouling particles (living or dead) still enter the R.O. unit. The best way to handle bio-fouling is cleaning the equipment and the upstream pipes and filters. Chlorinated water will be bad and should be un-chlorinated before entering the R.O. unit. Fouling by non-living particles is handled by your pre-filters, or additional sediment filters or cartridge filters with a nominal filtration rating of five microns or less. This can be complicated stuff and you can call your franchsior for a telephone number of a fair and honest local or regional water purification consultant.

Chlorine is the most common agent to chemically attack and destroy the polyamide thin film membranes that are commonly used in car washes. Activated carbon blocks are used generally in filters upstream from R.O. units. Larger units use granulated carbon filters or other methods. Active chlorine consuming sites on the activated carbon material is depleted over time and eventually dechlorination will diminish and finally cease. This will allow chlorine to damage downstream chlorine sensitive membranes in your R.O. unit. Carbon filters must be replaced as frequently as their manufacturers specify.

Most commercial R.O. units are too small to justify installing instrumentation to determine when to clean them. Cleaning periodically can remove most scalants and foulants. If you wait too long permanent damage will be done and proper cures will not work. If you wait until you have low flow problems, the elements may be plugged significantly and chemical cleaning may be ineffective or may take many hours to get the elements back to near original performance.

If you want, you can have the R.O. dealer do periodic cleaning on a service contract. It may be worth your while. Expect to pay between $80 to $160 per quarter. Watch for parts price gouging. Some companies are like sharks. If well taken care of, the membranes will last years. You may want to have a technician also check upstream filters. That way, if anything does go wrong, it’s their responsibility and you can make them pay. Make sure your contract is tied to their lifetime warrantee. Regular Maintenance Of Reverse Osmosis Units is ultra important and you should change your prefilters often. Water softeners every month, carbon filters quarterly. Be sure to check the pressures weekly and membranes will need changing every so often too. Think on this.

Management asked to be careful when hiring external health and safety advisors

March 17th, 2009 filed under Marketing, Web Of Lawyers

The HSE has advised companies to exercise care when hiring external advisors for assessing risk at their company’s work places. The word of caution comes after a recent case of a health and safety advisor been held responsible for not appropriately advising the company of the health hazards at their work site.

The HSE had recently carried out an inspection at the site of George Farrar (Quarries) Ltd. and had found that the employees were being exposed to the harmful by-product produced during sandstone manufacture, crystalline silica, which when inhaled by the workers can cause serious health problems. On investigating deeper into the matter, it was found that Richard Atterby, a consultant who had been with the company for over three years had failed to advise the company of the potential hazard of crystalline silica to the employees working on the site. Mr. Atterby’s negligence on the matter was noted by the HSE and a case was filed against him.

Mr. Atterby pleaded guilty to the charges at Bradford Magistrates’ Court. The court subsequently ordered him to pay a fine of 1,000 pounds and to pay another 700 pounds as costs. According to the HSE, the incident is a lesson for all employers to select their health and safety advisors carefully. Avoid the costly fines imposed by the HSE by making sure your staff and consultants are appropriately trained, find out more about the nebosh general certificate.

Keith King, the Principal Inspector of the HSE, commented on the incident stating that health and safety are a part of the company’s responsibilities and should be carefully outsourced. The companies should ensure that they consult a well-qualified safety advisor only, as it is the company’s primary duty to ensure the safety of its employees. Therefore, the selection criteria for the consultants should be stringent. Moreover, the consultants should only advise when they have relevant experience and proper knowledge of the subject.
