Exploring Sydney Botox Costs
Sydney Botulinum medicine (BoTox for short) has become established in Sydney society in fact it is fast becoming an essential part of grooming for people in Sydney.
Even so I never fail to be dumbfounded by the number of urban legends which surround this treatment.
Here are a selection of the misunderstandings that I come across frequently in Star Cosmetic Medicine, where I practise as a physician.
Mistake Number 1: I may not have the ability to express myself normally!
The human face has about 60 muscles. These ordinarily function harmoniously, but with time expression lines can form. Too many injections of Botulinum Toxin may lead to the forehead becoming less expressive. Broadly speaking doctors use comparatively low amounts to result in you seeming refreshed, yet you will remain just as expressive.
Therefore a carefully calculated dosage of BoTox in the right place means one will have a softening of any fine lines and wrinkles without any reduction in facial expression.
Mistake Number 2: BoTox is a toxic substance!
This to a small extent is right. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the exact medical nomenclature. Too large a quantity may relax muscles that you do not want loosened and may even cause sickness.
Pharmacists have a well-known saying that states ‘everything is a poison - all depending on the dose’. All medicines in a big enough amount will make you sick. Water can be a poison if too much is taken.

Mistake Number 3: BoTox will be painful!
The needles we use at Star Cosmetic Medicine have a diameter smaller than your hair. A lot of people have said that the injections are not worse than bug bites. Certainly not as sore as getting a vaccination.
Mistake Number 4: My face will not be as sensitive!
Totally untrue. BoTox acts on the junction between the nerve and the facial muscle, not the nerves of sensation. Only the ability to relax muscles is affected by BoTox.
Mistake Number 5. Once you begin BoTox you need to continue or the lines become more noticable!
Once Again this is simply false.
B.tox is expected to last for in the region of 3 months. Subsequent injections do last longer. The lines will gradually reappear as the muscle recovers its normal function. But they won’t be any deeper than when you started your BoTox therapy.
Even if you never have BoTox shots ever again - those lines should be less pronounced than if you hadn’t undergone the treatment. Mainly because your facial muscles and skin have had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ when the BoTox was effective.
